Massage For Exercise Aches & Pains
Many people believe aches and pains are an inevitable consequence of physical activity. If you follow an exercise regimen in Glens Falls, Lake George or Saratoga, massage therapy from Jennifer Madison Massage may sound appealing. Regular Massage for Stress Management
Regular therapeutic massage sessions provide significant benefits beyond the immediate relaxation we enjoy. People who experience high levels of stress tend to get sick more than others. Combine stress with lack of sleep and poor nutrition, and our immune system’s ability to naturally protect itself against bacteria and infection is greatly reduced. So the question is: What are the benefits of massage on the immune system?
Clinical studies have indicated that regular massage not only helps alleviate stress, but can naturally increase the immune system’s cytotoxic capacity (the activity level of the body’s natural “killer cells”) and decrease the number of T-cells, which improves the body’s immune functioning overall. In one study by Gail Ironson, M.D.,her subjects were given very regular massage for a month. They showed an increase in serotonin and an increase in cells that are viewed as the first line of defense in the immune system.
So, with school back in session and all our kids bringing home all those germs, isn’t it time you started using massage as a great way to take care of YOU?

Your Local Expert In Stress Management!
Did you know that virtually every symptom listed by the American Psychological Association about stress can benefit from massage?
Research has shown that massage can lower your heart rate and blood pressure, relax your muscles and increase the production of endorphins, your body’s natural “feel good” chemical. Serotonin and dopamine are also released through massage, and the result is a feeling of calm relaxation that makes chronic or habitual as well as acute or short-term stress much easier to overcome.

Recently I wrote a blog post about the best way to avoid a bad massage. Of course, that means getting the most from your massage is next on the list!
So, let’s say you come in to me with a problem having to do with your left shoulder. If you have a problem with your left shoulder and you are coming in for an hour session, I would like to spend about 55 minutes of that hour on your shoulder. Why? Because in 11 years of doing this, I have concluded that it pays to put the time and effort in where it hurts. But the other 5 minutes will be spent on the other shoulder, providing a valuable reference point to determine what is jacked up in the hurt shoulder. (more…)
You may not think that the topic of how to avoid a bad massage comes up frequently with my clients, but there is one think I hear frequently. “Can you feel that?” It’s a question I get all the time.
Generally my response is something along the lines of “ Ummm… Yes. Why do you think I’ve just spent the last 30 seconds pushing it around with my thumb?” The next question is usually “What IS it?” (generally said with a tinge of panic) (more…)
While I was working yesterday, I remembered I needed to come up with a one-minute commercial idea for my weekly BNI (Business Networking International) group. I was fresh out of ideas, so I decided to go to the source and ask several of my clients to give me the real scoop. I asked them to write a one-line sentence or “tag line” that describes why they choose Jennifer Madison Massage for regular massages in the Glens Falls region.
Here you go:
- 1st client says: “Massage…..helping me get rid of a pain in my a**!”
- Client 2 says: “Massage….it’s better than Botox!”
- Client 3 says: “Massage……helping me to not let other people rub me the wrong way!
Who knew massage could not only do all these things, but also make my clients think they’re comedians!
